Botanist and conservationist David Bellamy OBE will attend the opening of a new botanic garden in Bristol.

The Evolution Collection will open at Bristol University to highlight education and conservation work with more than 4,500 species on display.

The plant collections show the evolution of land plants, including a range of those favoured by dinosaurs.

Director of the garden, Professor Simon Hiscock, said it was unique among UK botanic gardens.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to see what we have achieved so far and experience the extraordinary diversity of plants," he added.
