Answers

  1. It's supposed to be Andy Murray, who took the Frenchman Richard Gasquet to a five-set thriller in the fourth round of Wimbledon Championships and won the match...
  2. It's £750 - enough to buy a 42" plasma HD ready digital set. The "John Lewis list" is an unofficial guide used by parliamentary authorities to determine how much MPs may claim from the taxpayer for kitting out second homes. The list of 38 items is based on prices at the department store. MPs rejected expenses reforms on Thursday.
  3. It's trainers. Chocolate bars and a TV with Freeview are classed as essential for all to participate in society, full-stop, according to a survey by the Joseph Rowntree Foundation released on Tuesday.
  4. It's Mandela. The African National Congress (ANC) was designated as a terrorist organisation by South Africa's old apartheid regime. US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had called the restrictions a "rather embarrassing matter".
  5. It was France, which took over from Slovenia. The Czech Republic steps up to the job next, at the start of 2009. And Switzerland... they're not even in the club.
  6. It was £203,000. But a bidder bought his entire life - which included his house, car, job and friends - in Perth, Australia - for just over £192,000 when he auctioned it on eBay so that he could make a fresh start.
  7. It's Debbie Harry, who was 63 on Tuesday, the same day Dan Ackroyd was 56. The NHS will be 60 on Saturday, following a week of events to mark its anniversary.
