'Gun enthusiast' released on bail

A 41-year-old Belfast man with an "unfortunate hobby" of collecting replica guns has been released on bail.

Gerard Heatley's lawyers told the High Court he was a collector whose weapons fascination had got him into trouble.

But they denied he had anything to do with adapting one of the pistols seized at his flat on Shaw's Road to fire live rounds.

He faces charges of possessing firearms and articles likely to be of use in terrorism.

A previous bail application heard how Mr Heatley was arrested following a punishment-style shooting at Norglen Crescent in the city on 10 April.
