A blue plaque has been unveiled to mark the north-west London home of the late character actor Alastair Sim.
The English Heritage plaque has been put up at 8 Frognal Gardens, in Hampstead, where the St Trinian's star lived for more than 20 years.
Sim, a stage and screen actor, is well known for his portrayal of Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol and his role in School for Scoundrels.
He was made a CBE in 1953 but refused a knighthood.
Played headmistress
Sim was born in Edinburgh in 1900 but spent his final years in London, before his death in 1976, aged 75, from cancer.
He revisited the role of Scrooge in 1971 when he voiced an Oscar-winning animated version of Charles Dickens' classic Christmas tale.
He is also well-known for his comedy turn as headmistress Miss Fritton and her brother Clarence in the 1954 film The Belles of St Trinian's.
He played Miss Fritton again in the 1957 film Blue Murder at St Trinian's.
He was married to Naomi Plaskitt for 44 years until his death.
The plaque was unveiled by Sim's daughter Merlith McKendrick, aided by actors Sir Ian McKellen and Barbara Windsor.
Blue plaques have been erected in London since 1867 to mark buildings where a well-known person lived or worked.
There are currently more than 800 blue plaques in London, with the scheme being run by English Heritage since 1986.
