The 10km event - in its fifth year - attracts top runners from across the world as well as people looking to raise funds for charity.

Roads were closed until 1545 BST to allow the estimated 28,000 participants to complete the course.

Kenyan Micah Kogo won the men's race with a time of 27:24. UK's Jo Pavey won the women's race with a time of 31:41.

Olympic gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes also took part in the run, as well as Bolton's Olympic boxer Amir Khan and a variety of cast members from the Manchester-filmed soap opera Coronation Street.
