EastEnders star in West End debut

James Alexandrou, Kevin Watt and Ray Panthaki

Former EastEnders star James Alexandrou is to make his West End debut in a play set on the day of the 7 July bombings.

The 23-year-old, who played Martin Fowler in the soap, will appear in In My Name with fellow ex-EastEnder Ray Panthaki and Kevin Watt.

The comedy follows three supermarket workers who start a night of drinking at their flat on the day London was hit by suicide bombers in 2005.

It will run between 1-19 July at London's Trafalgar Studios.

It transfers to the West End following a sold-out run at the Old Red Lion Theatre in Islington.

Alexandrou left EastEnders in February 2007 with onscreen wife Sonia (Natalie Cassidy) after playing Martin Fowler for 10 years.

He has been photographed in recent weeks at Amy Winehouse's house in north London.

Panthaki played Ronny Ferreira in EastEnders for two years.
