A man has been rescued by emergency services after getting stuck on a cliff face on the Solway coast.
The alarm was raised at about 0030 BST after he got trapped after being cut off by tides at Brighouse Bay.
It is believed he had been out climbing when he ended up stranded about 70ft from the cliff top.
The rescue operation took two hours and the man was eventually stretchered to safety and taken by ambulance to hospital for treatment.
Stretchered off
Kirkcudbright and Portling Rope Rescue Teams and the RNLI lifeboat from Kirkcudbright were sent to the scene.
When he was reached by rescuers the man was just 15ft away from the water.
He was stabilised by medics and then stretchered off the side of the cliff.
Roger Gee, sector manager for the Solway sector of HM Coastguard, said: "This is another extremely good example of the excellent working relationship the coast rescue teams have with the RNLI.
"However, I would remind all persons using the cliffs to be particularly careful and if at all possible, tell someone where you are going and when you expect to be back."
