Battle to save my swimming pool

Press Packer Walker loves swimming, but he has a problem.

His council wants to shut his local swimming pool because it costs too much. He tells us what he's doing about it.

"Swimming is one of my favourite hobbies. I come to the Compton baths at least four times a week to practise my front crawl but soon that might not be possible.

The council wants to close my pool

because it costs too much money to keep clean and safe.

If that happens I will have to catch two buses to go swimming and my school won't be able to come here anymore.

So I'm on a mission to make some waves and save this swimming pool.

I've already started a petition which over 2,000 people have signed. I've also been to see the council to see if it will make a difference.

If the money can't be found to save the centre it'll be knocked down in July 2007 so I'm not wasting any time.

I'm making a splash while I still can."
