South Africa scored eight tries in a 60-18 victory over Samoa at Loftus Versveld on Saturday.

It was the Springboks final warm-up match before the Tri-Nations series - against New Zealand and Australia - starts and fly-half Andre Pretorius top-scored with 20 points.

Pretorius kicked seven conversions and two penalties while centre De Wet Barry and wing Dean Hall both crossed the line twice.

South Africa extended their win streak under coach Rudolf Straeuli to four, following a pair of victories against Wales and one against Argentina.

Samoa, who qualified for next year's World Cup with a win over Tonga last weekend, suffered late on in the high altitude of Pretoria.

But the visitors managed to run in three tries of their own, through centre Fereti Tuilagi, captain Semo Sititi and flank Kitiona Viliamu.

"It was difficult to prepare for the match, because we didn't have any videos of them," said Springbok captain Corne Krige afterwards.

"But we expected a physical match and a couple of big hits, and they didn't disappoint us."

Coach Straeuli says he knows his first-choice South Africa side for the series against New Zealand and Australia.

"I have seen enough now to make my selection for the Tri-Nations," he said.

"There's no turning back now, and I believe we have the talent to do the job."
