Dafydd James: Proud to be back in Wales' starting 15
Llanelli wing or centre Dafydd James is convinced places are still up for grabs in Wales' biggest Test of the autumn against South Africa on 18 November.

James has been handed the number 11 jersey for Wales' encounter with the USA this weekend after Shane Williams picked up a hamstring strain, but he believes no player can rest on his laurels with South Africa looming.

"It is an ongoing process with selection and no individual can firmly say they will be selected," he said.

"Graham Henry has made it perfectly clear players will be selected on performance.

"It puts you on edge, but it should bring out the best in a player and they should play their best for Wales," James explained.

There is no room for complacency and we are all binding to the team ethic

The lack of complacency and increased competition for places has been a key element of the mood in the Welsh camp this week.

James' Llanelli team-mate, lock Chris Wyatt, has also refused to take his recall to the side to face America for granted, especially with an increasing number of options available to Graham Henry.

"There is no room for complacency and we are all binding to the team ethic," James confirmed.

That said, the Llanelli man was delighted to get his chance to start again after coming on for 10 minutes as a replacement in the rout of Samoa.

"I was pleased to be in the squad of 22, but to get selected is a great honour and I am very proud," James smiled.
