Moxon demands batting improvement

Opener Gerard Brophy scored just one run against Essex

Director of cricket Martin Moxon has demanded a vast improvement from Yorkshire's underperforming batsman, following their Pro 40 defeat to Essex.

Yorkshire scored just 157 in the contest, contributing to their fourth straight defeat in all competitions.

"I can only describe the majority of our batting as pathetic," Moxon told BBC Radio Leeds.

"Darren Gough was one of the only ones to perform, he's shown the batsman up, it's desperately disappointing."
