Twenty20 should help women - Shaw

Nicki Shaw
Shaw says Twenty20 cricket is good for the women's game

England vice-captain Nicki Shaw hopes that women's cricket will gain from the investment being made in the men's international Twenty20 competitions.

Shaw thinks the success of the Indian Premier League and the Twenty20 challenge series will help women.

She told BBC Radio Leicester: "Hopefully the money will feed through to us eventually.

"If there's money around and people want to put it into the sport that will benefit the women's game."

England's women play the West Indies in Loughborough on 11 and 12 July 2008.

"While the guys are getting the money I don't see why they shouldn't go for it.

"If people want to put money into the game then it's only going to highlight the women's game even more like it has done in football," Shaw added.
