Saints to probe Mido abuse claims
Mido played 57 minutes of Spurs' 1-0 defeat to Southampton
Southampton have opened an inquiry after claims Tottenham striker Mido was racially abused during the Premiership match between the two sides on 5 March.

Saints officials launched the internal investigation after a supporter made a complaint following chants from the Northam Stand at St Mary's.

The Egypt international was allegedly abused about his Arabic origin.

"We take all matters of racial abuse very seriously," a spokesman told the Evening Standard newspaper.

The 22-year-old striker told his website he would not be affected by the incident.

"It is not an issue for me. I don't care about these people because it is very clear what I am here for."
