Ivory Coast attacker Aruna Dindane has left the African Nations Cup semi-finalists for a second time.
Dindane, who left the team after the sudden death of his daughter, returned to Egypt to seek a place in their quarter-final tied against Cameroon.
But a calf injury to the 25-year-old has ruled him out for the remainder of the tournament, compelling him to return to French club Lens.
Dindane picked up the injury during a pre-tournament training match
against German club VfB Stuttgart in Abu Dhabi.
Coach Henri Michel said Dindane's return to the squad after attending his daughter's funeral in France had been a boost for the team but the realisation that his injury would take weeks to heal made it a better option for the striker to return to his club.
The Ivorians play in Tuesday's semi-final against Nigeria in Alexandria.
