Egypt striker Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam has been left out of the squad for Sunday's Nations Cup qualifier against Mauritania because of injury.
Coach Hassan Shehata excluded the Tottenham Hotspur striker from his 23-man for the Group Two game in Cairo because of an ankle injury.
Mido suffered the injury during his team's 3-1 win over Watford in the English premier league on Saturday.
Shehata recalled Shady Mohamed, captain of African Champions League winners Ahly, for the first time in four years.
He added two uncapped players in Tersana goalkeeper Ahmed Saad and Harras Al Hodoud midfielder Abdelsalam Nagah to his selection.
Egypt lead the group with four points, one more than Mauritania.
