Scotland-based midfielder Laryea Kingston is determined to help Ghana qualify for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

The 27-year-old, who plays for Hearts, missed out on his country's run two years ago in Germany through suspension.

The Black Stars reached the second round in their first appearance on the world stage and Kingston is now eager for them to reach a second successive tournament.

"Securing a place at the World Cup is a big task and we are driven by our qualification the last time," Kingston said.

"We want to reach the World Cup finals again.

"Every player wants to play at the World Cup and we would play to win every game in the remaining (qualifying) matches."

The west Africans currently sit top of Group Five in the qualifying campaign which will also determine which teams make it to the 2010 African Nations Cup finals in Angola.

With two games remaining, they have nine points and are ahead of Libya on goal difference.

Gabon are third on six.

However, they still face a potentially decisive match against Libya in Tripoli before rounding off the first phase at home to minnows Lesotho.

Kingston knows exactly what needs to be done for Ghana to seal their berth in the final round of qualifying.

He added: "We must seek to win the rest of the two games and top the group. The World Cup is the main target and we will strive to get through."
