In competitive games it is a fifth successive 3-0 win for England who romp to victory, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Wayne Rooney's efforts added to by an own goal.

The match appears to be perfect preparation for the tricky-looking trip to Moscow four days later.

Russia 2-1 England
Striker Wayne Rooney's electric volley puts England 1-0 up, but "four minutes of madness" - according to manager Steve McClaren - sees their hopes of reaching Euro 2008 fading fast.

England are left needing snookers to qualify for next summer's Euros.
