Roy Millar will no longer be N Ireland U21 manager
|
Roy Millar has lost his job as Northern Ireland Under-21 manager as the Irish FA undertakes "a restructuring of its coaching framework" in age group teams.
Under-19 boss Mal Donaghy and Under-17 manager Kenny Shiels will also be "standing down" from their positions.
"Nigel Worthington has a broad role and we felt the time was right to introduce a fresh approach at all levels," said IFA president Raymond Kennedy.
"Nigel will lead a change of coaching philosophy from schools level upwards."
It is believed that the trio were informed of the decision by IFA chief executive Howard Wells and Worthington earlier this week and it is understood the Northern Ireland senior boss wants to develop a process of continuity from the U17 team to the senior side.
"In the next few days, with Nigel's input, the IFA will be issuing statements regarding the management and coaching structure of all age group teams ahead of the next major tournaments," confirmed Kennedy.
