Uefa closes doors on Slovakia
![]() Heskey was the victim of racist abuse in Bratislava
Slovakia have been ordered to play their next home international behind closed doors.
Uefa originally fined the Slovakian Football Association 60,000 Swiss francs (£27,000) for the racist behaviour of fans during the European Championship qualifier against England in October. But Uefa's appeals body decided fans should be excluded from the qualifier against Liechtenstein on 2 April. The fine, which was the second highest imposed by Uefa for racist behaviour, has been reduced to 20,000 Swiss francs (£9,000). Emile Heskey and Ashley Cole were both the victims of abuse during England's 2-1 victory in Bratislava. Slovakian officials appealed against the initial fine, as did Uefa chief executive Gerhard Aigner, who has spoken out repeatedly against racism in European football. The revised fine is the same amount paid by the English FA after fans inside the stadium charged fencing separating them from Slovak supporters.
