Bruce ecstatic over Heskey recall
Emile Heskey
Emile Heskey's recall into the England squad for the World Cup matches against Northern Ireland and Azerbaijan has delighted his club manager Steve Bruce.

The Birmingham City forward has not been part of the England set-up since the friendly against Ukraine in August.

"For his type he is the best English centre-forward there is," said Bruce.

"Of course, you've got Wayne Rooney and Michael Owen who are different types of players but I bet they all love to play alongside an Emile Heskey."

Heskey, who has been a regular in the Blues side all season, grabbed his eighth goal of the season in the 2-0 win over Aston Villa on Sunday.

Bruce added that his striker's attributes would be beneficial to England.

"I think if you asked Michael (Owen) he will tell you he enjoyed playing alongside Emile at Liverpool," said the Birmingham boss.

"You saw again against Villa how hard it is for a centre-half to contain a skilful, powerful big lump like Emile.

"But he is also quick and has got a good touch and he has led the line manfully all season and I am delighted he is back with England."

Heskey won his last cap as a substitute against France at Euro 2004 and last scored for England just less two years ago.
