Pollok thought they had a chance of beating their SFL rivals
|
Montrose goalkeeper Mark Peat produced a brilliant display to end Pollok's historic debut in the Scottish Cup at the second round stage.
Ian Dobbins headed the Second Division side into the lead after 53 minutes of the replay at Newlandsfield Park.
Juniors Pollok were angered 60 seconds later, when Brian Dingwall's effort hit the net but was ruled out by the ref.
Pollok had been the better side, but it was Montrose who secured a third-round trip to Cumbernauld against Clyde.
Junior clubs have been given entry to the Scottish Cup for the first time.
And Montrose manager Jim Weir had suggested that his side had gone into the replay as underdogs after the 2-2 draw at Links Park.
But Pollok's defeat means that Culter and Linlithgow Rose are the survivors from the four clubs who were given entry this season.
