Managerless Dumbarton cruised into the fourth round of the Scottish Cup after overcoming Second Division Berwick.
The Division Three strugglers went ahead after five minutes, when David MacFarlane steered Niall Henderson's cross past goalkeeper Gary O'Connor.
O'Connor's superb save denied Robert Campbell, but the keeper could not stop Brian McPhee's powerful header.
Berwick's Kevin McLeish had a penalty saved by Sons keeper David Crawford after Andy Geggan fouled Paul McMullan.
