Hamilton were surprisingly held by Second Division Brechin City and face a replay at Glebe Park.
The First Division pace-setters went closest when James McCarthy had a goal disallowed in the 62nd minute.
City merited a goal as they created a string of chances but neither side managed to break the deadlock.
The visitors' Calum Smith and Adam Nelson almost caused an upset, but both spurned opportunities as Michael O'Neill's men earned a replay.
Unsurprisingly, Hamilton enjoyed the majority of possession, yet Brechin could have snatched victory.
Nelson had a great chance to win the game in the closing moments but failed to keep his composure, and fired the ball into the side-netting.
And with that chance passed up in a game more memorable for sweat than craft, City had to be content with another tilt at Billy Reid's outfit.
