Little pledges Altrincham future

Altrincham

Colin Little has pledged his commitment to Altrincham even if they go down.

The Manchester-born striker, who has scored 21 goals this term for the Robins, admits: "I've had offers to leave Alty and return to the pro game."

But the former Crewe, Halifax and Macclesfield striker said: "As long as the club want me, I'm happy to stay.

"It's like being married," Little told the Manchester Evening News. "You don't leave your wife if you're going through a bad patch, do you?"

Little added: "My aim is to carry on playing for as long as possible. I'll be 36 this year and can see myself going on until I am 40."

Alty, just two points clear of the Blue Square Premier drop zone, have only two games left, both of them on the road.

They go to mid-table Ebbsfleet on Saturday before a nervy midweek waiting for the rest to catch up in what is almost a full Tuesday night programme.

Alty are then also on the road next weekend to finish the season off in what could yet be a 'losers go down' clash at one of their main relegation rivals Weymouth.
