Brighton full-back Andy Whing says he would welcome former manager Dean Wilkins staying on as the League One club's first-team coach.

The Seagulls' former boss is considering the offer of a new role after being replaced by Micky Adams.

"I wouldn't have come back (last year) if I didn't think he was a good manager or coach," Whing told BBC Southern Counties Radio.

"It would be fantastic if he was to come back."

We'll be very fit, very organised and hard to beat

Whing played under Adams at Coventry and is confident of holding on to his first-team place.

"I was one of the younger lads there, now I am one of the older ones and played 48 games last year. I'm looking to play consistently for Brighton," he said.

Whing also expects the Seagulls to be difficult to play against under Adams.

"He's got a certain way of playing. We'll be very fit, very organised and hard to beat - a very organised team," he added.
