Crewe defender George Abbey expects first-team coach Steve Holland to be a busy man in the summer as he tries to strengthen the team for next season.
Abbey has committed himself to Alex for another two years, and hopes for better than the 20th-placed finish they managed this season in League One.
He told BBC Radio Stoke: "Hopefully the management know who they want to bring in to help us improve.
"If they do that in the summer, it will be a different season next year."
Abbey suffered an injury-plagued first season with Alex, following his free transfer from local rivals Port Vale in the summer of 2007.
The Nigerian defender made 20 starts as Crewe avoided relegation to League Two by just two points.
