Dagenham & Redbridge boss John Still thinks securing their Football League status is a bigger achievement than winning the Conference last season.

Saturday's 3-2 win over Darlington secured their position in League Two.

Still told BBC Essex: "It is a monumental achievement. To stay in the league is so much greater than us winning the championship last year.

"I don't think people realise what we work with on and off the pitch, if they did I think they'd die of the shock."

He added: "It's a fantastic achievement by a group of lads who give everything they've got.

To stay in the Football League is just unbelievable

"When we have injuries we can't go and bring in big signings, we've got to work with what we've got and I think it is absolutely fantastic for them."

Striker Ben Strevens added: "It means everything to us, our gaffer said to us that we've gone down in history.

"A club like this, the resources we've got to stay in the Football League is just unbelievable."

The Essex side will complete their first season in the League with a home match against relegation-threatened Mansfield.
