Magilton escapes FA touchline ban

Jim Magilton
Sunday's game will be Magilton's 99th in charge of Ipswich

Ipswich boss Jim Magilton has escaped a touchline ban from the Football Association disciplinary panel despite verbally abusing a match official.

Magilton pleaded guilty to the charge after arguing with referee Mike Jones during the defeat at Stoke in February.

However, the 38-year-old has been fined £1,000 and received a suspended two-match touchline ban until the end of the 2008/09 season.

This will be activated if he is guilty of a similar charge within that period.
