Livingston clinch McParland deal

Livingston have completed the signing of former Celtic youth player Anthony McParland on a two-year deal.

The 25-year-old, who was on trial at Almondvale, left Celtic in 2005 before having spells at Barnsley and Wycombe.

"We're very pleased to welcome Anthony to the club," chairman Angelo Massone told the club website.

"He's an exciting, attacking player and we are confident he can make a significant impact in the First Division next season."

Winger McParland is Livingston's second signing of the close season following the capture of French midfielder Jean-Jose Cuenca.

Meanwhile, the club have added striker Matteo Merini and goalkeeper Gianmario Strambace to their current group of trialists.

Merini and Strambace join Claudio Castroni, Raffaele De Vita, Jonathan Di Maria, Alejandro Caiaffa and Gabriel Bagot.

De Vita, a 20-year-old striker who began his career with Roma, has been released after four years with Blackburn Rovers.

His 21-year-old fellow Italian, midfielder Castroni, spent four years with Lazio but most recently played for Tarante.

Midfielder Caiaffa and striker Bagot are both products of the IMG Academy in Florida while French defender Di Maria has previously played with Martigues.

However, a trial for former Auxerre goalkeeper Stephane Veron has not materialised.
