Oxford United receive youth boost

Oxford United

Oxford United's youth development has been boosted by verbal assurances that the Football League will continue to allow them in their youth competitions.

United's centre of excellence has approximately 150 young players involved in different age-group teams.

Parachute payments for youth schemes dry up two years after relegation from the league, so the Blue Square Premier club are looking for new funding ideas.

League clubs receive £138,000 if they commit to a programme of youth games.

Meanwhile United are in talks with Premiership club Fulham about a possible friendly between the two sides.

Brackley Town have confirmed they will host the U's in a warm up game on Saturday July 12th.
