Fry determined to keep Posh stars

Peterborough United's director of football Barry Fry has said that only a "ridiculous" amount of money will buy any of the club's top players.

With Posh already promoted to League One, the club's management are bracing themselves for a barrage of interest in their top talent.

But Fry said: "Everybody's got a price, but our price for our players is ridiculous and no one will pay it.

"We don't want to sell, we're building a side to take us through the leagues."

Fry also restated the club's policy of developing young talent as they have with Aaron Mclean, George Boyd and Craig Mackail-Smith.

It must be a wonderful position to be in as a manager knowing that the chairman is not going to make you sell players you don't want to

"We signed them on four-year contracts because we wanted them to go through the leagues together and we've seen nothing to change our minds," he said.

"I think the chairman has made it perfectly clear that he doesn't want elderly players coming here for a hand-out, he still wants young, hungry players.

"Whether that means getting young, hungry players from Football League clubs or non-league clubs remains to be seen."

Posh take on Grimsby this Saturday and Fry says manager Darren Ferguson is in an enviable position heading into the close season.

"It must be a wonderful position to be in as a manager knowing that the chairman is not going to make you sell players you don't want to," added Fry.

"So it's fantastic, not only for the manager and the players, but for the supporters too."
