Adkins hails Sharp as Iron go up

Billy Sharp is mobbed by the fans after securing Iron's promotion

Scunthorpe manager Nigel Adkins hailed Billy Sharp after the striker's brace earned Iron a 2-0 win over Huddersfield and promotion to League One.

"He's been magnificent for us, not just this season but also last," he said.

"We are not a one-man band, it's very much a team effort, but it was fitting that Billy got the goals that sealed our promotion - I'm so proud.

"It has been an historic season for us, but we've led the table since the turn of the year and deserve our success."
