Tierney celebrates double award

Defender Marc Tierney was a double winner at the Shrewsbury Town awards night, winning both the fans' and players' player of the year.

"I'm chuffed with the one from the players, but to get the fans' vote too is the icing on the cake," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"I train as hard as I can and give my all for the team.

"As a full-back you often don't get the recognition, so this is my best night in football by far."

He added: "I enjoy playing football every day - and this has given me so much confidence for the future."

Striker Dave Hibbert was also a double winner after being named young player of the year, and picking up the leading scorer trophy for his 12 goals.
