Gus MacPherson

Gus MacPherson was delighted with his side's performance in their 1-0 Scottish Cup win over Dundee United.

"We merited the win. We played some good stuff. We played at a really good tempo against a very good Dundee United team," said the St Mirren boss.

"When we've been asked to defend, we've defended properly. We were disappointed to go in at half-time 0-0.

"I am delighted for our players and our supporters. I'm delighted we've won in that manner," MacPherson added.

St Mirren will play St Johnstone at McDiarmid Park in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals, following the Perth side's victory over Ross County on Tuesday night.

However, MacPherson insists the cash to be earned from the cup run is not the focus for the team.

"At this stage money's not important. I've got a group of players who didn't even ask what the bonus was for the match. T

"The money's not important; it's trying to win a very difficult game at McDiarmid Park.

"We can't be disrespectful. We can't drop our standards because if we do, we'll suffer," MacPherson warned.
