Stockport boss Jim Gannon hit out at referee Keith Woolmer's performance after the goalless draw at Chester.
Gannon told BBC Radio Manchester: "The referee was weak and incompetent but you are going to get that in a game.
"The referees are amateurs, they are car park attendants turning up at a professional game and trying to manage professionals," he added.
The point guaranteed Stockport home advantage in the second leg of their League Two play-off semi-final.
The Hatters, who end their league campaign at home to Brentford on Saturday, will face either Darlington or Wycombe in the play-offs.
