West Brom captain Jonathan Greening is to have a scan after suffering a knee injury in the first half of the FA Cup fourth round draw against Burnley.

The midfielder hurt his medial ligament and the injury would be a big blow to bottom-of-the-table West Brom, with Greening seen as key to their survival.

"Until we get a scan, we won't know how long he will be out," said West Brom boss Tony Mowbray after the 2-2 draw.

"I would suggest it will be at least two to two-and-a-half weeks."

The 30-year-old midfielder has started all 22 Premier League games for West Brom this season.

"Greening has been our most influential player and has been since I walked in the building," added Mowbray.

"He said it was his first injury in 14 years and he is a bit distraught about it. Let's hope it is a short absence."

Greening joined West Brom in July 2004 from Middlesbrough.

West Brom are due to play one of Greening's former clubs, Manchester United, on Tuesday.
