Everton Ladies defender Fern Whelan has revealed her delight at being named FA Women's Young Player of the Year.
The 19-year-old picked up a trophy at the awards ceremony in London, along with team-mate Jill Scott, who was named Players' Player of the Year.
Whelan, who has an ankle injury, told BBC Radio Merseyside: "I'm made up to have won it.
"There could have been so many people to have won it, so it feels good to be picked for the award."
The young defender missed the end of the season due to an injury during the Blues' FA Cup campaign.
"It means a lot and just makes me more determined to get back playing."
Midfielder Scott, 21, scored for England during their 6-1 win against Argentina during the World Cup and set up the only goal in the League Cup final victory over Arsenal in February.
