A guide to the rules of golf

Golf clubs
Make sure you have the correct number of clubs

A player is allowed no more than 14 clubs in his or her bag.

If a player breaks a club during a round he or she is allowed to employ a new one as long as having it brought to him or her doesn't delay play.

However if they broke the club in a way other than the normal course of play (for instance in a fit of rage) they may not fetch a replacement.

There are also strict rules governing the design of clubs.

All manufacturers must submit their clubs to the R&A for approval before they can be used in professional tournaments.

The R&A and PGA of America say they will ban equipment which makes the game too easy.
