Nick Heidfeld
Safe pair of hands

Nick Heidfeld
Born: 10/3/77
Nationality: German
First GP: Australia 2000
Best result: 2nd
2007 position: 5th

Nick Heidfeld is proving to be the expected safe pair of hands needed by BMW as they embark on establishing their new team as a serious player.

Though lacking the pace of some, the German has been a solid choice for BMW's new solo venture in Formula One.

Smooth and error-free, he took BMW's first podium in Hungary in 2006.

And he responded to the pressure of the emergence of promising team-mate Robert Kubica by generally having the upper hand on the Pole in 2007.
