David Coulthard continues to defy his critics and maintain his position as one of Formula One's most accomplished performers in his 14th full season.

His match-up with new team-mate Mark Webber was watched with interest and while the Australian had the edge on pace, the veteran Scot held his own.

Coulthard succeeded in securing a new contract for 2008, when he believes Red Bull's potential will begin to emerge.

It could be his swansong, but his blend of pace and experience remains.
