Renault fell from a great height in 2007, and will be eager to prove their disappointing form was a mere blip.

Major problems with their car meant they went from champions to failing to win a race overnight.

Fernando Alonso's return after a difficult year at McLaren ensures they will not lack anything in the cockpit.

But the team do not yet have the car to do justice to Alonso's talents, and the Spaniard may have to come to terms with at least a year as an also-ran.
