Lewers agony in European decider

Iain Lewers
Iain Lewers formerly played for Annadale

Former Annadale player Iain Lewers, now based in The Hague, has failed his bid to win the European Men's Hockey Club Championship with Dutch team HGC.

Lewers helped his side to the final but they suffered a 1-0 extra-time defeat by German outfit Ulenhorst in the decider on Sunday.

Cork's John Jermyn also plays for the Dutch side.

Lewers is a product of the Sports Institute in Jordanstown and is a current Ireland international.
