Andrea Brewster boosted her hopes of qualifying for the Olympics by winning the bronze medal at the Laser Radial World Championships in New Zealand.
Brewster, 25, finished ahead of Penny Clark (seventh), Lizzie Vickers (15th) and Charlotte Dobson (25th) - her main British rivals for Olympic selection.
She had started the day fifth overall but moved up to a career-best finish with a strong display in the final leg.
"I'm really, really pleased. I don't think it's sunk in yet," said Brewster.
Clark said: "It's mixed emotions really. My goal was a top-10 finish, so a week ago if someone had offered me seventh place at the World Championships I'd have taken their hand off.
"It's my best world result, but Andrea did even better."
The Laser Radial is the only one of 11 Olympic classes where selection has not been finalised for Beijing.
Sarah Steyaert of France won the gold medal and Liji Xu of China took silver.
