Britain's Richard Kruse clinched foil silver in the Senior European Fencing Championships in Izmir, Turkey.
Kruse beat French Olympic champion Brice Guyart in the semi-finals but lost to Germany's Ralf Bissdorf, a Sydney 2000 silver medallist.
It was Britain's first Senior World or European medal since 1965.
Kruse's fellow Briton James Beevers was ninth in the same event, and Louise Bond-Williams made the top 16 in the
women's sabre.
