Miller seals combined event title
Bode Miller
Miller has rediscovered his form since quitting the US team
America's Bode Miller won the final super-combined event of the season at Val d'Isere on Sunday to take the discipline's World Cup title.

The 30-year-old's third straight combined event win, ahead of Croatia's Ivica Kostelic and Natko Zrncic-Dim, extended his overall standings lead.

"I did a couple of mistakes on the top part and I was a little surprised to clock such a fast time," he said.

"But my new skis were fantastic in the turns, like skiing on a carpet."

Having romped home 1.37 seconds ahead of nearest rival Didier Defago in the morning speed event, he could afford to put in a safety-first performance in the afternoon's slalom.

He skied a clean run to record a time 0.38secs faster than Kostelic, with Zrncic-Dim 0.99 seconds behind.

Miller can now set his sights on the downhill and overall World Cup titles, as his main rivals for these titles, Didier Cuche and Austria's Benni Raich, had disappointing weekends.

The men's World Cup moves to Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Germany for a slalom next weekend.

Miller has hit form after flopping at the 2006 Winter Olympics and subsequently quitting the US team.
