England coach Smith knows Australia will be a huge test

England coach Tony Smith says he was not worried at any stage after watching his side recover to beat France 34-12 in their Four Nations opener. The hosts trailed 12-4 at half-time but ran in five second-half tries. "We were just a bit excited, even before the game," said Smith. "We were a bit anxious and put a bit of pressure on one another. "We just had to settle down and build some pressure on the French. We knew if we did that they would struggle." The game turned in England's favour after the break thanks to scrum-half Richie Myler's two quick tries. Kevin Sinfield, Ryan Hall and Tom Briscoe also crossed, adding to an earlier try from Lee Smith in the 12th minute. Smith added that his young team are still developing an understanding, something he knows they will need in abundance when they face Australia next Saturday. "This is a new team, and it takes a little bit of time to get the combinations, and that showed tonight," he conceded. "We go up about three rungs in class next week."
