Ulster have unveiled details of the redevelopment work planned for their Ravenhill ground in Belfast.

It will see a £4.5 million stand being built on the terrace side which should be finished by September 2009.

The venture is to be funded completely through corporate income, with the stand including 20 private boxes and 530 premium seats.

The second step in the redevelopment will be the building of a new stand at the Memorial end of the ground.

"It is imperative that we improve the facilities," said Ulster chief executive Michael Reid.

"An investment in our facilities is absolutely vital if we are to cement our position and compete.

"We need an investment in players which will bring results on the pitch, increased crowds and the financial windfalls and bonuses that come with participation in the latter stages of competitions.

"We have an excellent academy structure but it is getting harder to retain local players when they are being lured by the financial packages and lifestyles offered by other clubs."
