Former Scotland international Craig Chalmers is to return to former club Melrose as first-team coach.

It is expected that the 34-year-old stand-off will also continue his playing career with the side that finished fifth in this season's BT Premiership Division One.

Chalmers has been playing for Worcester for the past two seasons and has been involved in coaching the English club's academy players.

A club statement said that their new first-team coach and former player would "be involved in discussions in the next week with club officials regarding the appointment of a forwards' coach for which several candidates have already been identified".

Melrose president Norman Elliot added: "The club is delighted a player of Craig's experience and passion for the club will again be involved at the Greenyards."
