Former Olympic champions Nigeria will prepare for the Beijing games by taking part in an eight-nation tournament in Malaysia from the 15 to 25 May.

Nigeria's under 23 squad will take on hosts Malaysia, Ireland and Iraq in Group A of the event.

The other group will see Ghana play Argentina, Croatia and Australia.

Coach Samson Siasia told BBC Sport: "There are several players we hope to bring into the team and this tournament gives us the chance to look at them."

Nigeria have been drawn against Holland, USA and Japan in Group B of the men's football tournaments at the Olympic Games in August.

"We are also happy because two teams [Argentina and Australia] from the Olympic games in China will also be in Malaysia," Siasia added.

Meanwhile Ivory Coast make their Olympic debut with matches against reigning champions Argentina, Serbia and Australia in Group B at the Beijing games.

Africa's other male representatives in China will be Cameroon who are in Group D with South Korea, Italy and Honduras.

The top two from each group will progress to the quarter-finals.

Nigeria's women's team have been handed a tough draw in China alongside reigning world champions Germany and the World Cup runners-up Brazil, as well as North Korea.

Hosts China are in a group with Canada, Argentina and Sweden. While the third women's group will feature Norway, USA, Japan and New Zealand.

The top two and the best two third-placed teams progress to the quarter-finals.
