England

Nigeria and Everton striker Yakubu Ayegbeni

Ghana's Michael Essien, Nigeria's John Mikel Obi as well as they the Ivory Coast duo of Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou all missed out on the English Premier League title.

Their Chelsea side were held 1-1 at home by Bolton Wanderers while Manchester United beat Wigan 2-0 to secure the title on the final day of the season. United finished two points ahead of Chelsea.

Nigeria striker Yakubu Ayegbeni scored twice to help Everton seal a Uefa Cup place for next season with a 3-1 win over Newcastle United.

Arsenal's Emmanuel Adebayor ended as Africa's top scorer in the English Premier League with 24 goals - Manchester United's Christiano Ronaldo was the overall top scorer in the Premier League with 31 strikers.

Spain

Two Cameroonians were on target as Barcelona hosted Mallorca.

Samuel Eto'o made it 2-0 to Barcelona in the 56th minute, his compatriot Pierre Webo scored 14 minutes later as Mallorca bounced back to win 3-2.

Barcelona fans booed Eto'o during the game apparently unhappy that he was booked last weekend and missed Wednesday's game against champions Real Madrid.

Real won the game 4-1 as the Barcelona players formed a guard of honour to welcome the champions onto the pitch.

Cape Verde's Dady gave Osasuna the lead just a minute into the game as they edged out Real Murcia 2-1.

Italy

Morocco midfielder Houcine Kharja was on target for the second consecutive weekend as he grabbed a 69th minute equaliser for Siena as they held Inter Milan to a 2-2 draw.

The result means that the race for the title goes to the last game of the season next Sunday.

Inter are just one point ahead of second-placed Roma, who are away to Catania for their final game while Inter travel to play Parma.

Germany

South Africa's Delron Buckley equalised for Borussia Dortmund on the half hour mark in his side's 2-2 draw with Arminia Bielefeld.

Moroccan Mimoun Azaouagh scored one of the goals for Bochum in their 3-1 win over Karlsruhe.

France

Bordeaux are keeping up the chase for the French title after beating Sochaux 2-0. Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh scored the second goal to seal victory.

Lyon are still two points clear at the top table thanks to their 1-0 win over Nancy.

Senegal's Boubacar Mbaye Gueye put Metz ahead in the 34th minute but it was not enough as his side still lost 2-1 to Lorient. Algerian midfielder Rafik Saifi had scored the equaliser for Lorient.

Ghana defender John Mensah sealed victory for Rennes as they came from behind to beat Toulouse 2-1.

The Ivory Coast's Bakary Kone scored what turned out to be the winner for Nice as they defeated Valenciennes 2-1.
